HASAV - High Altitude Solar Adobe Village
Crestone, Colorado - HASAV was a design commission by the Manitou Foundation of Crestone, Colorado, in 1992, to be a fully sustainable and self-sufficient village community and education center that could serve as a model for future sustainable land development practices. The village (yet to be built) was designed to: produce all of its own energy, grow its own food, process it own waste and provide an economic base for its residents. After 15 years the public attitude toward natural building and renewable energy is starting to catch up with the "ahead of its time" concept of the Solar Village and there is currently renewed activity on bringing the project to fruition.
